The Mother Teresa Mercy Council and Carolina Preserve Newman Club are co-sponsoring a food drive for the Durham Community Food Pantry. Volunteers will unload from your trunk. You won’t need to get out of your car.

On Saturday, March 6, the DCFP truck will be at the Amberly Clubhouse parking lot, 1075 Residents Club Drive, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

On Sunday, March 7, the DCFP truck will be on the Land, 1221 Yates Store Road, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Diapers are a current priority, along with non-perishable food items. Canned vegetables and fruits, canned meats and fish, sugar, flour, pasta, cereals, peanut butter, etc. (no glass containers), feminine hygiene products, and baby wipes are greatly appreciated. Gently used children’s books are also accepted.

We welcome monetary donations. Make checks payable to Durham Community Food Pantry. You may also donate online through the parish WeShare page.

DCFP, a program of Catholic Charities, works to end food insecurity in Durham and Orange counties. Since the pandemic, DCFP has experienced a 500% increase in families seeking food assistance and limited resources to fill the need.

In November and December 2020, the DCFP served 330 families a week with 30,000 pounds of food. Many federal programs that have supported the food pantries around the state are set to expire, yet the needs continue to soar as the pandemic deepens. Our help is more critical than ever. Click here to learn more or visit the DCFP website.

“We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean.
But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.” –Mother Teresa
